Online Platforms Response Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Updates Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Accounts A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
