Alarming Recording Shows Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack

Both Sergeants Instants Before the Aggressor Got Stunned

A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a blade-wielder has been awarded the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera video made public by the police department revealed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon pointed forward.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor even though being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft Incapacitated the Assailant, Jacob Brown, with a Electric Weapon

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an end.

Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide something on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and further wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.

Officials reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his fellow officer's blood loss before paramedics reached the scene.

The new honor comes after the law enforcement team were granted internal Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local officer association in early 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The efforts of all three officers eventually protected each other and ensured no members of the public experienced any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to authorities.
